Initially focused on IPSC, the club evolved as local shooters sought a more self-defence-oriented shooting discipline due to security concerns and the desire to stay prepared.
Over the years, LDPC has grown into a dynamic hub for defensive pistol enthusiasts, dedicated to promoting firearm safety, skill-building, and a sense of community.
From the start, LDPC has been committed to creating a safe, fun, and educational environment for shooters of all levels. In 2004, the club hosted its first open day to introduce SADPA to the local community, followed by monthly shoots that continue to emphasize firearm safety, skill development, and plenty of enjoyment.
Over the years, LDPC has grown steadily, hosting unique events like “night shoots” and the popular “3-gun” competitions. In 2006, themed shooting days, such as “Farm Attack” and “Car Hijack,” drew attention due to their relevance to the community’s safety concerns. These events have become a hallmark of the club, offering participants the chance to practice real-world defensive scenarios in a controlled environment.
In 2014, LDPC expanded to a new range built on the Elsjan farm near Komatipoort, offering facilities for rifles, pistols, clay pigeon shooting, and .22 calibre firearms. The new range has become a centrepiece for the club, providing ample space for members to hone their skills across various shooting disciplines.
