From Underdog to Champion: Burgersfort Defensive Pistol Club Shines at the SADPA Limpopo Champions League 2024

LCL 2024 Champions

On the 9th of August, the SADPA Limpopo Champions League made its mark at Burgersfort Defensive Pistol Club, a once-small and relatively unknown club that has transformed into a powerhouse in just two short years. The event was a true celebration of dedication, community spirit, and the remarkable growth of Burgersfort, which hosted over 100 shooters for a day of exhilarating competition on its home turf.

Just two years ago, Burgersfort Defensive Pistol Club was a fledgling initiative with a handful of passionate shooters. Back then, no one could have predicted that this small club, tucked away in the bushveld, would soon become the host of one of SADPA’s premier events. But thanks to the hard work and vision of its members—especially key drivers Arend and Elize Moll—the club has not only grown but thrived, bringing in members from the community and building a range that now rivals the best.

What truly set this year’s Champions League apart was the sheer quality of the stages, stage decor and the event atmosphere from all the shooters. The Burgersfort team designed a thrilling set of courses that tested the shooters’ speed, accuracy, and ability to perform under pressure. Each stage brought a new challenge, whether it was the fast-paced transitions required for handgun stages or the accurate headshots required for maximum points. The variety and attention to detail in the course setup left many competitors impressed, solidifying Burgersfort’s reputation as a premier shooting destination.

One of the club’s most impressive achievements is the construction of a modern facility that includes pistol ranges under roofed cover, which provides welcome shade in the hot Limpopo sun. The 400m rifle range showcased the club’s ability to cater to a variety of shooting disciplines, and the addition of a clubhouse meant that the event didn’t stop when the shooting did. After a day of intense competition, shooters gathered in the clubhouse for an awards ceremony that lasted late into the night, celebrating the accomplishments of the day and the camaraderie shared among shooters.

This year’s event was a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared passion. Special thanks must be given to Arend and Elize Moll, whose tireless efforts and leadership have been instrumental in transforming Burgersfort Defensive Pistol Club from an underdog into a club capable of hosting such a large-scale and prestigious event. Their vision and commitment, combined with the support of sponsors and the club’s members, have made this year’s Champions League a resounding success.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the incredible support of the sponsors, who generously contributed to the event’s success. Their involvement not only provided the resources needed to pull off such an ambitious event but also showed the strength of the partnerships that Burgersfort has built in such a short time.

The story of Burgersfort Defensive Pistol Club is one of perseverance, vision, and community spirit. From humble beginnings, the club has grown into a central hub for shooting sports in Limpopo, and hosting this year’s Champions League was a crowning achievement. With a growing membership and top-notch facilities, the future looks bright for Burgersfort, and we can’t wait to see what they accomplish next.

Here’s to the underdogs—who, through hard work and passion, have proven that they are champions too!
